Lesson 1, Part 2<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n

So after I posted the first lesson about how to tawk like a New Yawker<\/span><\/a>, I knew I’d forgotten something. It’s been bugging me. Now I remember. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Here’s step 5:<\/p>\n

Add the word “why<\/span><\/em><\/strong>” and answer your own question. For example:\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody get the gun and just shoot me already. Uch. I\u2019m\u00a0SO\u00a0annoyed. <\/em>Why<\/em><\/strong><\/span>? It\u2019s not working, my computer.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

As an added bonus, here are some sample mini dialogues:<\/p>\n

1.<\/p>\n

Melina: [busting through the doors of her school, her black coat now white with snow, coffee spilling all over the cuffs of her coat] “Good morning.”<\/p>\n

Colleague: “What’s wrong?”<\/p>\n

Melina: “I’m late. Why<\/strong><\/em><\/span>? It was barely moving, the Q Train. Therefore, I am now calling it ‘The Little Engine That Couldn’t.'”<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Colleague: “Oh good, you’re here. I wanted to talk to you. Why<\/em><\/strong><\/span>? I need to borrow a laptop.”<\/p>\n

Melina: [striving to be helpful, as always] “Help yourself!”\u00a0<\/p>\n

3.<\/p>\n

Friend: “What’s wrong.”<\/p>\n

Melina: “Don’t ask. I have a headache. Why<\/em><\/strong><\/span>? He was barking in his sleep, my dog.”<\/p>\n

(Notice here that I said, “don’t ask?” Well, not only did I ask, I actually answered my own question. This city is rubbing off on me.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
