I’m Really Rosie

July 9th, 2008 by Melina

And I’m Rosie Real!

You’d better believe me,

I’m a great big deal!

Be-LEEEE-ve me!

O.k. sorry, I’m done.  I was just busy having a blast from the past.  I’ll stop singing now.  Thanks for your patience.

Anyway, so I have been deep into revisions of the oh-so-sappy Daphna In The Rough and my brain is fried. I was all up night worried about it.  (I mean my book, not my brain.  My brain I’ll worry about tonight.)  In an attempt to wake and cheer myself up, I decided to have a little fun with YouTube, and found my old friend Rosie.

Rosie and I go way back.  I’ll confess that when I was a kid, I used to put on a pink feather boa and a big hat and sing along to the record (yes, I’m that old).  Then, when I taught elementary school, the Nutshell Library and Really Rosie soundtrack had a huge presence in my classroom.

Learning the months of the year?  Easy!

Oh my once, on my twice, oh my oh Chicken Soup With Rice:

And any student who dared to say, “I don’t care!” had to hear me sing/read this:

Ah, I wish Carole King sang more children’s music.

And with that, I’ll end this trip down memory lane and get back to edits.  Must be done before RWA Nationals.

Wish me luck!

I remember that song! I guess I didn’t know there was a book (or video?) associated with it, but that’s okay.

Good luck with your edits. A great big double WOOT to you for plugging away on them. Your reward comes in 3 weeks! :)

    Pam! *Waves*

Really Rosie is a play based on a series of children’s books. It was also made into a t.v. special which I didn’t see until I was an adult because it was made before I was born. I just had the record and saw the play in a local theater.

Didn’t get much done today. It’s getting late but I’m going to work on a scene before bed. Sigh.

Three weeks! Yes! Actually, I leave for CA a week from tomorrow. So thrilled at the prospect of being in a real house with a backyard, a washer and a dryer. :-)

    See you soon!!

    I missed these somehow.

Have fun in CA – it’ll be a good break from all that editing!

And you’ve got me thinking that maybe I need my own feather boa to wear while I’m writing. No point in waiting until publication – we all know those odds.
    Now. Pink or Purple…

Don’t think you have to choose a boa color. You can get a bunch and even mix and match. Rosie would approve.

You’ll also be needing a director’s chair. While you’re waiting for your WIP to become a best seller and be optioned for a movie, you can do like Rosie and sit on the sidewalk and make your neighbors go through screen tests. After all, you’ll want to be ready. . .
